Colour Q Challenge #200

What a great colour combo this week at the Colour Q.  Hop over and check out the DT samples.  I took this picture last week at the park.  We were there with my in laws and my husband's sister.  My kids were very excited to play with their cousins.  I was trying to get cute photos of everyone, and my son kept popping into the frame just to bother his little sister.  This picture was not really in focus, but I played with it in photoshop and instagram and added the title.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Funtastic Moments

Here's a hybrid page I put together the other day.  The middle frame was done with Photoshop.  I also made the journaling and chalkboard with My Digital Studio.  Then I printed them out and cut them out and popped them out on pop dots.

I used the Endless Summer kit from Pixels and Co.

Colour Q Challenge #199

This week we have a subtle colour combo for you over at the Colour Q.  I used this adorable pack from My Minds' Eye that I picked up at Winners - the Canadian version of Ross.  I love that little wood die cut.  It came with the matching pearl frame.  So I stuck it together.  I took this adorable photo of my kids a few weeks ago and ran it through Instagram.  Hop on over to Colour Q and check out the other samples from the Design Team.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #186

This week has a colour challenge over at Stampin' Royalty.
Because it retired, I don't have any Bermuda Bay ink or paper at home.  I took it all to my classroom.  So I pulled out this Afternoon Tea DSP and I know it has Costal Cabana, not Bermuda Bay, but it's close right?  I cut those little triangles into banner shapes and made a little banner.

Thanks for stopping by.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #185

This week we have a photo inspiration challenge for you over at Stampin' Royalty.
I love all the colours in this photo.
Well, I actually love this year's new In Colours.

Colour Q Challenge #198

This week we have a bright colour challenge for you.  As soon as I saw this combo I knew I had to scrap this fabulous photo I took of my daughter and her BFF.  Although they are wearing pink Tshirts, I ran the photo through Instagram and voila!  The stamp set is called BFF and this was the first time I inked it up.  I will definitely use this set again.  Hop on over the Colour Q and check out the fabulous creating done by the design team.

Happy 1st Birthday Tessa

Today we are celebrating my Niece's first birthday.

I decided to go vintage with this card.

Then I added a few more embellishments to make it a birthday card.
Thanks again for stopping by!

Mixy Matchy Moxie Fab

I made this card for the Mixy Matchy Challenge over at Moxie Fab World.
You're supposed to mix and pair up a bunch of different patterns to create a cohesive look.
It's not really my style, but why not try something new right?

Stampin Royalty Challenge#184

This week at Stampin' Royalty we are challenging you to make a

SINGLE LAYER  card.

Thank goodness for clear mount stamps.  I made this card without a stamp-ama-jig, and it turned out pretty well.

Thanks for stopping by!

Colour Q Challenge #197

We have a bright and bold challenge over at the Colour Q this week.
I decided to scrap this cute photo of my Mom and my son on her 51st wedding anniversary.

I used stamps from Close To My Heart and ink and paper from Stampin' Up!

These little flowers were made using the dotted scallop edge punch and a crimper.

NOTE:  I have added this to the Moxie Fab Trigger Tuesday Challenge.

Just a little hybrid card

I love this paper from Stampin' Up!  It's full of blues and greens (and some orange too).  To make this card I printed the sentiment out using my digital studio.  Then I stamped over top of it with the shabby background image.  Then I carefully cut it out and attached it to a piece of blue card stock.  Then I cut out the cardstock to make a blue matte for the sentiment.  The button is from Basic Grey and the rest of the product is Stampin' Up!

this LIFE

Here's my latest attempt at photoshop.  I must admit, this page is a bit of a hybrid between PSE11, GIMP,  and My Digital Studio.    There were a few things I just didn't have the patience to figure out yet, so I started in MDS and then brought the jpeg into GIMP, and finally into photoshop.  I had to build a few of the elements.

The bulk of the elements on this page are from Pandera Blooms by Mindy Terasawa over at Pixels and Co.  I also used Instagram to jazz up my photos.

Photoshop FINALLY!!!

OK so I finally took the plunge and bought PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 11.
Whew, this is going to be a challenge for me.

You see, I have been using My Digital Studio and GIMP together to create my digital layouts, but Photoshop can do it all in one.  The only problem for me is that I have become really competent with the other 2.  I know all the shortcuts and secrets with the other two.  So now I have to slow down and relearn a lot of techniques.  And I'm honestly a bit frustrated at my learning curve.  I hate being a student. (ironic right?)

Besides this, I've also found it difficult to find many free resources and tutorials on Photoshop Elements 11.  There are a number of settings that are slightly different on version 11 from version 10 so I can't use videos that are a year old, I have to find videos that are specifically for version 11.    From what I gather, versions 8 - 10 are very similar, but the newest version is different in a number of ways.

I've watched a few good You-Tube videos though.  So far, Design House Digital has been the most help for me.  Sadly, they are closing their shop as of July 15, 2013.  But the tutorials are supposed to remain available.

Anyway, here's my first creation.

I decided to try scrappin' from a template.  It's much faster than creating the whole page by yourself.  I think this template is a bit busy, but for my first try, I'll take it!

I used the Storyteller template from Scrap Orchard.

And the This Year kit from Scotty Girl Design over at Pixels and Co.

Mojo Monday #300 Take Two

I love this sketch over at Mojo Monday this week.
It's the 300 sketch, you should hop on over and join in the celebration.
I used some of my new patterned paper from Stampin' Up!
Not sure how I feel about the cantaloupe colour, but I really like the rest of it.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge 183

This week over at Stampin' Royalty the challenge is

ANYTHING GOES

So I pulled out MDS, made a few hybrid embellishments, added them to a retired die cut card and added the current scalloped ribbon.  Totally cute and super easy to make.

Mojo Monday Challenge #300

This week it is the 300th sketch over at Mojo Monday.  I thought I'd try my hand at this sketch.  I have been playing with Mojo Monday for many years.  I liked this sketch so much that I have made a few cards with it that I'll post over the next few days.

Colour Q Challenge #196

So this week at Colour Q we have a patriotic colour challenge.
Here is my take on this challenge.
I pulled out papers and embellishments from the Fan Fair kit for My Digital Studio.

Fab Friday #21

So I found another sketch challenge to play along with this week.
This time I'm trying out the sketch over at Fab Friday.
This flower is another rub on from My Minds Eye and the smaller flower is a sticker from Basic Grey.  The sentiment and card stock are Stampin' Up, as are the framelits that I used to die cut.
The paper is from both Crate Paper and My Mind's Eye.
