Stampin' Royalty School Daze

We are looking for any project that is school themed.
I decided to scrap this photo of my class from last June.  I had to blank out the kids faces, so the picture actually looks much better when you can see the people.
I love this new BACK TO SCHOOL kit for MDS and can't wait to try out more layouts with it.

Colour Q #152

It's Tuesday, and that means another challenge over at Colour Q

At first, I thought these colours would be easy to scrap.
I really like this combo, but Bermuda Bay kept throwing me for a loop.
I finally came up with the double layout below.  This was my third page for this challenge.

Last week I went to my very first Major League Baseball game.  We drove down to Seattle.
We saw the Mariners blow out the Twins 5 -1.  The grass was really close to Gumball Green so I decided to create my own background.  I faded the opacity a bit, so the green is not as vibrant, but I really like how the background tuned out.

Plus it was family day, so the kids got lots of free stuff, including ridiculously large T-shirts.  They even have a play area for kids 6 and under, right in the ball park.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #138

It's Wednesday, so that means another challenge over at Stampin' Royalty.

This week we have a recipe challenge for you.

This week the challenge to use

FABRIC

You can add it to your project or create the whole thing out of it.

I made this adorable little giraffe out of the fabric from the Comfort Cafe suite.
You may have seen this one on the displays at Convention last month.

I searched the web for an easy pattern.  And for the life of me,
I can't remember where I found it from.  The one on the web was a flat 2 dimensional giraffe.
I decided to add a gusset and give the giraffe 4 legs instead of 2.
Then I made a little tail out of 1/8" taffeta ribbon.

I also used the ribbon for the mane, and of course, those awesome wooden buttons for the eyes.

Colour Q Challenge #151

Well it's Tuesday and we have a bright colour challenge for you over at the Colour Q.

I decided that the Pumpkin Pie colour matched the colour of my son's pajamas, plus the Basic Grey and the Basic Black match the shark painted on his face.

These photos are from our recent Mediteranean cruise.
One night, when I picked the kids up from Kids Camp, they had just been to a party and they had their faces painted.  So we took a few photos.  Both of them had fun camping it for the camera.  Connor wanted to show off that his shark opened it's mouth, when he opened his mouth.

This page was made with My Digital Studio 2, of  course.
I used tons of overlays and DSP for this page.
Because I used MDS2 I can add the supply list for this project very easily.
Here it is.

Colourful Holidays

Check out all these colours.
Do they make you think of a particular holiday?

No?...

I don't know why, but I was in a really silly mood today,
and I whipped up a bunch of Christmas Cards.

I love this new set from the Holiday Mini
It's called Evergreen.

Firstly I tried some new In Colours
Gumball Green and Summer Starfruit.
Not that unusual a Christmas combination.

Then I tried another tactic.
I pulled out the DSP in this card from the new Festival Of Prints DSP stack.
And I tried out the In Colour combination of Island Indigo and Pool Party
Not quite traditional, but reminiscent of frosty days.

I really like how this tree outline works with the sentiment stamps.
So I decided to try out one of my favourite colour combos
of Stampin' Up! colours - Concord Crush and Wisteria Wonder.

and finally I tried out the In Colour,  Primrose Petals
with Pretty in Pink for a radical, non-traditional combo.
I really like this combo for some reason.

As you can see from the first picture
I made 2 copies of each card, for a nice set of eight.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #137

My card for this week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is one I made as a Display Stamper for this year's Convention.  Each of the Display Stampers were given a product suite to work with and I was given the Comfort Cafe suite.  It's really not a suite I would have purchased as the colours are not my favourite, but I took on the challenge and created something out of my comfort zone.

To start, I stamped the frame from the sentiment stamp.  I used a Stampin' Write marker to carefully only colour the frame as I did not want the words from this stamp.  Once I stamped it, I carefully cut it out by hand and then sponged the edges to make them more even.

I really like how this frame fits nicely into the curve of the foilage stamp which I stamped in Pool Party on Whisper White.

The actual sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede on Whisper white.  Then I cut it out with the Labels Framelit, and then used a paper trimmer to chop off the top and bottom of the label and square it out a bit.  I added a double layer of buttons for some interest.

The trim in the middle of the card was made using the Scallop Trim Border Punch with Cajun Craze, layered over a distressed and sanded layer of Soft Suede.

The bottom layer has an embossed layer of Summer Starfruit paper covered with a flag cut out of the Comfort Cafe fabric.

Here's a look at the finished product.   I made it on a 3' by 6' base instead of the regular 4 1/4' by 5 1/2'.   Even though it's not my typical style, I actually really like this card.

Cutie Alert

When I saw the colours over at The Paper Players this week, I knew I had to play along.

But I wanted to make this page quickly.  So it only took me about an hour.
 My creative process works sl-ow-ly.

The colours reminded me of the Fan Fair suite.
So I pulled up the designer template for the Fan Fair Suite and went to work.

First I found a layout I liked.  Then I set about changing the colours of the embellishments.
But it didn't work for me, so then I changed the background paper to Downtown Grunge.
Then I cropped a piece of the Fan Fair DSP to get the little sentiment which I found really apropriate.  Then I went through these pictures from our photoshoot in June, and pulled up the ones of the kids being goofy.  These are my two kids and my brother's two boys.

Then I added the photos, and the frames around them.
I added several overlays from the Vintage Overlay stamps.
Then I added the Date, and voila!

They're kinda cute - dontcha think??

Colour Q Challenge #150

This week we have a bright and bold colour challenge for you over at Colour Q

For me, the largest challenge was combining Bermuda Bay and Lucky Limeade.
But I really like how it all worked out.

I decided to scrap our day in Pompeii, Italy.

This photo of my son is my most favourite photo from our trip to Europe.
I love the lines of the photo, and the colours, and especially the smile on his face.
I tried to 'age' the paper to match the aged look of the murals on the walls.
Because Pompeii was completely covered with the ash from the volcanic explosion of Mt Vesuvius, most of the city remained intact under the ash for almost 2000 years.

This mural of the woman in the clamshell actually had the Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight in it.  I thought it worked perfectly in this layout.

Thinking about Christmas???

Well, Christmas is a while away, I know, however if you are starting to think about your stamp-a-stacks and classes, I have the kit for you.
And it's only $3.99

This kit is designed to use the Festival of Prints DSP Pattern Pack from the holiday mini

There are 4 copies of each paper, and this whole pack is enough for 4 whole kits.
It's great for planning classes.

Also, this kit uses the Ornament Keepsakes stamp and framelit bundle.

Another great thing about this kit is that the cards are clean and simple which makes them great for stamp-a-stacks.  So you could simply omit the ornament shaped box, and focus on the cards for a stamp-a-stack.

Other Holiday Mini supplies used in this kit are
core'dinations cardstock

Crumb Cake Tulle Ribbon

Holiday Frame Textured Impressions folder

Stampin' Sanding Block

Freshly Made Hand Stamped Sentiments

Like yesterday, I got to sit down and create tonight.
So I thought I'd enter another challenge or two.

This card is for the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches,
and for the Hand Stamped Sentiments colour challenge this week.

Those little strips at the bottom of the sketch, just screamed flag to me, so I trimmed the ends of the DSP strips to create little flags.

This card is for a family friend who is turing 80 next month.
I tried to make his card a more masculine card.  And with the Patio Party DSP I tried to focus on the more masculine colours like blue.

Here it is.  I used the Memorable Moments stamp set for the sentiment - LOVE this set.

First I stamped the images with Midnight Muse ink on Whisper White.
Then I carefully cut them all out - I am HOPELESS at lining up stamps - even with a stamp-ama-jig.
So it's easier for me to just cut them out individually.

The "Happy" sentiment I cut out with the Bitty Banners framelit, and then trimmed down the ends to make a shorter flag, and then I mounted it on Midnight Muse cardstock and cut around the white to make a matte.

I used the middle sized scallop circle punch, to punch out a pattern of the DSP.
I chose the argyle pattern because it's a bit more masculine.
I was trying to counteract those tiny butterflies which are a tad feminine.

The large white panel was embossed with the new chevron textured impressions folder.
It doesn't photograph too well, but I think I captured it clearly in the photo above.
And here's a better look at the final product.

Dynamic Duos #15

So I keep meaning to make more cards for challenges.
But the summer seems to be drifting away...

Anyway, tonight I actually managed to whip up a few cards.

There's been a few new babies in my life recently.
My new niece arrived in July, and so I whipped up this little card for a friend to give
 to my SIL and BIL

And I really liked the challenge colours over at Dynamic Duos this week.  So I decided to play along.

The Congratulations sentiment is from the Perfect Punches set.
I used the doily sizzlit and the masking technique.
A little Smooch Spritz, with Pretty in Pink ink added a nice layer.

I copied the idea for this card from my friend Ange.
Here's a link to her original card.

Of course I also used the Button Buddies set to stamp out that cute baby rattle.
I added pearls to echo the one in the middle of the doily.

And voila, the finished card.  All those layers of cardstock makes for a heavy card.  Good thing its not going in the mail.
